2019 California SCWAY State

UTB Places 9 at SCWAY State

UTB wrapped up its postseason state run this last weekend at SCWAY State in Clovis, California.  Although the numbers were lower with only 13 athletes competing UTB still made some noise finishing within the top 10 with half the numbers of most other clubs within the top 10.

Of those 13 athletes who competed all but 4 placed within the top 8. Again another stellar performance by our Baby BEASTS.

Three Baby BEASTS Make Finals

Steven 'Baby Boy' Gomez has had a lot of success over the years at SCWAY State placing in the top 3 every single year he's competed.  This year was no different, with Baby Boy making his second SCWAY finals appearance. Steven started the day off with a solid 2-0 match with the eventual 3rd place finisher.  From there Baby Boy kept winning, with a :30 second fall in the quarters and a close 4-2 win in the semi's.  Unfortunately the win streak came to a halt in the finals as Baby Boy fell in a very tight 2-0 match.

The SCWAY State tournament has always been a work in progress for Aiden 'Bullet' Chur previously placing higher than the last every year but had never made the finals.  Bullet started his day off with a fall in 2:47, following that up with a 7-0 win putting him into the finals where he lost a closely contested 4-0 match.

Adam Farha came to Clovis with the finals on his mind starting the day off strong with a second period fall in 3:00.  In the semi finals match Farha stepped into a throw within the first :45 seconds of the match tossing his opponent to his back and securing the first period fall.  Adam rolled into the finals match with supreme confidence but unfortunately fell to a hometown wrestler from Red Wave.
